Nearly perfectMay 10, 2010

I need a lot of bang for my buck with lights. this one "nearly" covers the whole room. The patterns are fine, the effect is fine and never boring. This light packs a lot of punch. Do yourself a favor and buy 2 of them. The green is plenty bright enough, the red is not as stunning. Super easy to use and looks like a million bucks when it is operating (my band photos at [...] should be convincing).

The Ultimate Low Cost Laser Machine for NovicesDec 19, 2010
By Chris Peecho American DJ Galaxian 3D Green And Red Multi Beam Laser With 3D Type Gyration
I've been toying with the idea of putting together a little laser light room in my basement as something of a hobby and an activity to do with the kids. After much research and the help of these Amazon reviews, I carefully chose the American DJ Galaxian 3D laser machine as my first addition to a hopefully and eventual big family of laser equipment. So, as an early Christmas present, my beautiful wife hooked me up!
I decided it needed a fog machine as well so I ordered the Chauvet Hurricane and some fog juice.
I brought the Galaxian down to my finished basement which is about 30 by 20 feet with low ceilings about 7.5 feet high. I was eager to check it out so I plugged it in and turned it on. Although the machine was humming, it took about 30 - 45 seconds for the laser lights to display. And display they did! The room lit up with green and red lights - thousands of them - slowly circling like fireflies all over the room! I turned the lights off and instantly the room was transformed into another dimension! It was BEYOND what I expected! I looked at the manual (which could have been a little more explanatory with some of the functions) and figured out how to switch to sound activation mode. With a couple pushes of the button towards the back of the machine (on the top) I found Sound function and put on some music. I had the laser machine positioned towards the back of the room and the stereo speakers were towards the front. So the sound activation function didn't really make the lights dance unless the music was really loud and pumping. So I had to extend the center speaker to reach the back of the room so I could put it on the same shelf as the Galaxian and position the speaker towards the sound pickup microphone on the front of the unit. This solved that problem and after doing this the microphone had no problems picking up the bass beats and sending those little lasers dancing their butts off! The patterns and chases this little laser machine produced were quite impressive! Spirals, waves, explosions and many other interesting random effects really made the kids (& my) jaw drop. The 3D effect was really cool but to really enjoy it you had to be fairly close to the laser to see the whole things but this may not be as much a problem in a bigger room. The room this is in is fairly small.
Paired with a fog machine to better display the laser paths, this couldn't be a better bang for your bucks and this product exceeded my expectations. Well worth the money spent.

By Kyle Thompson I purchased Two lasers and now have two different lasers that do not Work! Quality control is obviously very poor. i am currently talking on the phone with the company in LA to see if i can get parts as oppossed to resending.
Iffy product.Jul 02, 2011
By xhoonx This item cost too much for way too little return. There are some way better lasers in the 300-500$ range. This is nice to add when u already have a nice center piece laser. It fills in the gaps.
Fills a hole in the showFeb 16, 2011

This unit does the job, but has room for improvement. For this price, it's not hugely impressive. Wide coverage could be better. My biggest complaint is that- without the UC3 Controller- this unit can not be adequately controlled with remote power toggles. When the unit is powered on, it delays 3 seconds while running a test before going live. That's not acceptable versatility. With the UC3 Controller, you can blackout and go back to live seamlessly, but that's a different added control for my control board, as well as extra money and hassle.
There are not a lot of options to add this kind of effect to your show though, and lasers are a major crowd pleaser, so for now this will have to do. Build quality seems good, so it should last.
