She has written, produced and published several books and tapes on Middle Eastern music. Since the 1970's she has performed in numerous concerts, on albums including Magda Helmy, Gallal Kutub, Yusel Mostafa, and Light Rain, and on the soundtrack ABC-TV series, the Young Indiana Jones. I wanted to like it, because I respect Mary Ellen Donald alot, but if I'm honest with myself, the book is extremely dry, and boring. I am not sure the two products are meant to be companion products, but the CD called "Drum and Dance / 30 Doumbek and Djembe Rhythms" by T. Roy is the EXACT same material, but MUCH easier to learn and practice with, so I reccommend that instead.
