Although it is a fine harmonica, for 100 dollars less, so is the same one without the gold. It is not metal... it is gold fleck paint on plastic. I don't know if it will be any more durable when dropped. I did break a plastic one that way , but honestly this looks like it would break if dropped as well. If it breaks too than it is 100 bucks more for no noticeable improvement in sound quality. It is just flashy really.
