For looks only.Feb 17, 2010
By Girl Villain Its super cute.. but not so comfortable to play. One of the "V" points will inevitably stab you in the leg or where ever. You're really just paying for the looks here. The sound is weak and not so great. It stays in tune pretty well though. This should only be bought as novelty uke. You can play it.. but you're not really gonna want to.

Looks cool but....Jan 30, 2011

I bought this ukulele for my son for Christmas. He loved it, but he is six. It wouldn't stay in tune at all. I have since replaced the tuning pegs and it works a little better. All I have to do now is put on some better strings and the transformation will be complete. It looks cool, but it is a fixer upper.
The difference is I knew what I was getting myself into.Aug 24, 2010
By YOpinksushi I read the other amazon.com reviews and decided to but this little uke anyways because I liked the novelty. When it arrived at my house it was a little banged up and missing a string. Nothing a little soup and water couldn't cure. And the strings? They were cheap and I would've replaced them anyways. No worries. I did initially try to tune it but it was hopeless. SHE WILL NOT STAY IN TUNE AS IS. But, like I said, I knew that would happen. No worries. For another $15 I bought some geared tuners (machine heads), drilled a hole here, a hole there, replaced the pegs and TA-DA! she stays in tune. I haven't honestly had a problem with the "pluckyness." I mean, it's by no means a professional instrument, but a lot of fun to play.

By A. Paelmo The Mahalo Flying V is a really nice ukulele. I have received many compliments about how unique it looks. The strings sound very low quality but i will buy better ones(aquila). The tuning pegs were a bit loose at first but i tightened them. Over all this ukulele is a good quality uke for such a low price.
great *looking* ukulele.Feb 25, 2010
By Anne Caldwell ukuleles are not supposed to be this shape. the V doesn't allow for the right type of resonance inside the instrument. the soundhole may as well not be there, all i can hear is the plucking of the strings.
that said, there's not a lot you can do about that. if you want a Flying V-style ukulele, they are all going to sound plucky. this looks fantastic, i love it but it just sounds like it's a novelty item. i guess it is.
