Very compact, smooth, and precise.Feb 06, 2011
By Chance This item fits nicely into a small space, uses a CR 2032 battery. Instructions say the unit draws < or = 4 mA (.004 amps). According to energizer.com, typical capacity of a CR2032 cell is 240 mAh (milliampere hours). So, in theory, 240mAh/4 mA = 60 hours.
The unit comes with a clip on pickup, mini phone plug/jack to main unit, which works quite well clipped to any of my acoustic guitars' or mandolin's head stock. I have not tried it in a noisy environment, although they are supposed to work well in such places. The display appears smooth and precise.
If you can purchase these at the right price, could be worth having one in each instrument case. It will easily discern notes from A on guitar 5th string all the way up the scale, even on mandolin. Instructions say E1 41.2 Hz to a3 1760 Hz.
There is one word of caution. You must be careful not to accidentally bump either button while the unit is on. Pressing the right hand button changes the key. Pressing the left hand button fine tunes "A", so to say. Each press changes it one digit, in a range from 435 to 445. Press and hold this button to turn the tuner off. So, if you, for instance, press the OFF (LH) button, but do not hold it down long enough to power off, then re-try and successfully turn the unit off, the tuner will next time be powered on at A=441. Just pay close attention to the screen and you will be OK.
excellent little tunerMar 28, 2011
By SCR This tuner is super thin, takes up no extra room in my case and is pretty much spoton with my fellow instrumentalists's Korg tuners.
