Purchased this bass on Amazon after researching for a inexpensive upright for some time. Thought I better write a review on it since nobody else has. This is a great production bass and worth every penny. Been practicing on it for some time and can't find anything wrong even though I try. Ok, so the bass could have had somebody brush the pinstripe purfling better, and I wish I could play more like Oscar Pettiford. But out of the box this bass rocks. Palatino does a great setup. I have nothing againist Engelhardt as they make a great bass in this price range also as I know, but I liked the features of this bass and rolled the dice and must say I am surprised. This is a great student bass and would recommend it to anybody who likes to practice and or perform.

I purchased the Billy Bass approx a year and a half ago and love it! I play mostly a Fender Jazz bass but needed an upright for a few songs a set in the new band I started working with. I researched, talk to other Bassist's and played a few uprights. The Billy Bass was my choice. The design, construction and sound has been consistently above what I would have expected for a bass at this price. I've since added a bridge P/U and upgraded the strings. I would not hesitate to recommend this bass as a reliable and great sounding entry level bass or as a addition to you bass arsenal!
