No; thius is not a pros first pick, and yes, you will have to cough up another 30-60 dollars for a good set of strings, but its a great way to provide your child with an instrument for school (the ones we could get at our school were terrible!) without breaking the bank. Only gave it 4 stars due to the extra effort and expense of getting the strings and bridge adjustment, but other than that no issues and a good investment. My daughter loves this viola.
