An excellent value!Jan 03, 2008
By D. K. Butler I have been looking for a performance-grade tabla set that did not cost an arm and a leg, so I ordered this tabla set in December 2007. It arrived in just a few days! The drums were in excellent condition, and in good tune. The bayan is nice heavy brass with a good tone. The soft travel case is well-cushioned and fits the drums perfectly. Mid-East Manufacturing delivered a great product with excellent service!

Nice instrument, syahi degrades quickly though.Nov 15, 2010

I bought this set in February or March of 2010. I play it daily for approximately an hour. The syahi on the dayan drum is chipping in several places and coming off. I don't know if the glue used was good quality. My instructor told me it is not ordinary for the syahi to degrade so quickly. I haven't been playing it overly hard or anything. There is also some unevenness on the edge around the dayan, which makes uniform tuning of that one drum impossible. Other than that, the drum sounds and feels great.
Hope this is helpful!
