They can be used separately or blended together. Jekyll accurately reproduces the sound of the original TS808 Tube Screamer, providing depth and smooth sustain. The Hyde part is a heavier extremely versatile overdrive with more bottom. Use the Jekyll & Hyde pedal's EQ to scoop out the midrange for a wide range of tones and a Sharp/Blunt switch to go from compressed to very bright. The sonic possibilities are endless. The V2 Jekyll & Hyde pedal features redesigned noise reduction and improved mid control on the Hyde channel, plus additional low-drive range on the Jekyll channel. Besides that and the sweet new V2 housing, the V2JH stompbox delivers the same great overdrive and distortion tones that the Jekyll & Hyde pedal is famous for. From its first appearance in 1997, the Jekyll & Hyde was the first stompbox to combine two separate effects in one pedal. Now ten years later the V2 Series gives you the same great tone guitarists have come to love, plus an added noise reduction system, creating the ultimate guitar dream! Each channel of the newly designed Jekyll & Hyde has separate controls, giving you the ability to use them singly, or together. The Jekyll Overdrive channel delivers more output volume than the original TS-808-far surpassing its predecessor. The Hyde side is more than just a turbo version of Jekyll. With heavier distortion and more bottom end, this crazy distortion pedal is extremely versatile! From Visual Sounds V2 Series, the V2JH Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Multi Effects Pedal features a diecast aluminum housing, ultra-reliable 10 million cycle switching, easy battery access and circuit protection from AC adapters. Visual Sound never disappointsMar 27, 2009
By Mike L I received this pedal as a Christmas gift and I must say that I am very impressed. After fiddling with it for a couple days, I finally got setting that I like. The overdrive on this thing sounds awesome, unlike anything I've ever played. The distortion is great, too. And I do like the sharp/blunt switch. The pedal is also very versatile. You can get anything from a light, neck-pickup distortion for blues rock to a loud, crunchy, classic rock tone. I highly recommend this pedal.

Fantastic PedalAug 15, 2011

When you first see the seven knobs, 2 switches, and 2 buttons on this pedal, you can be a bit overwhelmed. In the box is a quick set-up guide with a bunch of different distortions / overdrives / combinations you can try out. All you really have to do is set up the pedal for one of those and make your own tweaks from there.
I mainly use the overdrive for chords and when i want to throw a lead in there, i turn on the Distortion as well.
The bass boost is a great feature, but for me it's always on because it gives a wicked bottom end boost that's impossible to resist. The sharp/blunt switch is like night/day as well. If you're familiar at all with "presence" controls on some amplifiers, sharp would be a 10 and blunt would be a 0 on the "presence" control.
The pedal itself is a tank. I'm pretty sure you can drop it off a building and it'd still work just fine. I haven't tested this hypothesis, so don't take my word for it.
I haven't checked out the battery life in it yet, only because this is an addition to my pedal-board and i have a 9V power-supply i use for it.
There's also a built in noise-gate that cuts output from the pedal if the input signal is small enough. It's adjustable, but only internally. It helps keep noise under control, but if your amp/guitar combination is really active it won't help feedback much.
All-in-all I recommend this pedal to ANYONE if they're playing blues, rock, punk, even metal. The pedal is really intuitive to use even though it has a plethora of options to play with. The quick set-up guide has some pretty great settings to start you off with, and the bass boost just makes everything SO MUCH BETTER. One small additional detail though; the pedal sounds about 3x better going into a Tube-driven amp than a solid-state amp. Of course that depends on the quality of the solid state amp, and my subjective, personal opinion.

Awesome soundsAug 23, 2011

There are seven knobs and two switches on this pedal that makes for a steep learning curve, but it is the real deal. The pedal packs two pedals in one. The overdrive channel sounds like vintage TS808. With the right drive, tone, and volume, I've been able to get a good neck pickup blues rock-sound of Cream or Led Zeppelin. The distortion channel which has 4 knobs takes a lot of tweaking, but I've finally been able to dial in the George Lynch on Dokken Tooth and Nail sound on the bridge pickup. The gear I am using: Jackson DK2 HSS with Seymour Duncan TB-4 JB, STK1, STK1, Fender Princeton 112 Plus 1X12 solid state amp.
The pedal does have a steep learning curve, but the foldout instructions have several examples of different styles to use as a baseline for experimentation.
nice toneApr 25, 2012
By prsjames Ive owned mine for 6 years (old style V1 series) and borh channels on sounds exactly like the overdrive on my Carvin Legacy amp. The green channel on sounds a lot like the ibanez tubescreamer and is nice for chording, and blues. The red channel sounds a lot like my friend's a mesa dual rectifier. Then again, this pedal is plugged into my tube amp, if you use a solid state amp the sound will be different. It looks intimidating with all its knobs but it gives a vast array of sounds. From 50s to today, its the most flexible overdrive/distortion pedal in the market. The two in one pedal design saves space and clutter from extra cables and adaptor plugs.
