It is housed in a sturdy, plastic cabinet that tilts back for easy access. The mixer section is a 12-input stereo mixer that has an effects send, a monitor send, and 3-band EQ. FCL (Feedback channel location) helps pinpoint the offending channel when feedback occurs. The first four channels of the EMX512SC have single knob compression to allow better control of vocals, punching up a bass guitar, or bringing out a quiet bass guitar or kick drum. The effect send is routed to the built-in DSP that provides high quality reverb effects based on the popular SPX processor series. The amplifier section uses Yamaha’s proprietary EEEngine technology for efficiency and cool operation. A switchable YSP circuit tailors the amplifier’s response for the Yamaha Club Series loudspeakers. Yamaha did it again. This is an awesome powered mixer. Plenty of power, very clean sound, excellent effects and features. I am extremely happy with it. I had a 6 channel 200w x 2 Yamaha EMX mixer that I used hard for 12 years for over 200 shows a year, many on decks near the ocean in salt air and it never failed and is still working. It's now my backup system. I expect to get the same dependability from this new EMX512SC 8 channel 500w x 2 mixer. I am Yamaha all the way from my mixer to my speakers and my 12 string Compass series and APX guitars. Yamaha rocks!

I just got my package from american musical supply and what can I say, they pack there stuff great, I know other DJ's that use this amp/mixer for djing all kinds of venue applications, and I went to help DJ before I got this system, and it is really powerful, plenty of power for clubs, bars, schools, pretty much anything that you DJ, also they say you can use this for outdoor venues as well and is clean punch bass using this with the YAMAHA s115V club series speakers.... I recommend this!
