Great keyboardJun 11, 2010

We bought this keyboard for my son. He was starting piano classes and we wanted him to practice at home. This keyboard is perfect! It has grand piano sound and also all the songs and voices you'd expect from a modern keyboard. It is very light, it doesn't take up much space and we have it working with batteries. In our case, batteries last +/- 8 weeks. We find the user recorder very helpful as is showing the notes played on the display screen. The stand is OK, the headphones have a great feature which is a volume control on them. We got a M-Audio SP-2 US65010 Sustain Pedal Piano Style Sustain Pedal for Keyboards (excellent) and a Yamaha PKBB1 Single Braced Adjustable X-Style Keyboard Bench (very good). Now the whole family is into playing piano ! Recommended.

Condo GrandJan 10, 2010
By R. Murphy I give this keyboard a five star rating. I have a 950 sq. ft. condo in Chicago and the sound more than fills the space with song. My wife grew up playing a piano and this was a perfect gift for her.
My five stars is based on the realistic deep piano sound the 320 brings, we really dont use any other functions just so you know where i'm coming from.
I recommend it to condo dwellers.

Great Keyboard, Features, and PriceNov 23, 2010
By Joseph Koheleth You are not getting a professional concert item, but for home and travel play, you can't do better than this nicely priced unit. We have been using ours for a few months and it is holding up fine under daily usage. A load of instrument sounds and effects, most of which we don't use. We select a lot of the traditional instruments, and although the timbre (sound) is not great on some, we mostly use the piano and harpsichord, which have a very nice tone. Recommend you try piano 123, since we like that better than the default grand sound (001). See what you think, but you aren't likely to be disappointed if you want something pretty portable to practice and play on. Please note that we don't use ours much with batteries, but instead find somewhere to plug in, so we don't know how the battery life is.

I made a pact with an online friend - we both have wanted to learn the piano for years but have always put it off. We purchased our keyboards on the same day - I found this package on Amazon and he went to a Guitar Center in New Orleans and got the same keyboard. Difference being, he paid about $150 MORE for the same keyboard! We are both practicing regularly and I have to say I really love this whole package... One thing you can get if you register your keyboard on Yamaha is a beginners piano book. I downloaded and had it printed at Kinko's so I'm set for learning. The only negative thing I have to say is that I was hoping the volume would be higher on the keyboard. It's plenty loud for practicing and playing for myself but is quiet if I wanted to use it for performing.

Great for beginnersFeb 24, 2011
By JumbocactuarX27 I've been moving between temporary apartments for a while now while I save up for a house, but I couldn't wait for that to stop to start learning the keyboard like I'd always wanted to. Absent a teacher and the funds for a full 88-key keyboard or a standard piano, I eventually settled on this with some research and the help of some piano playing friends.
The keyboard itself is great. It comes with an instruction manual detailing it's functions (you'll definately want to read this) and a sample DVD showing off some of Yamaha's video "get to know your keyboard" products. While informative, I didn't find these DVD episodes to be very helpful for learning to play the keyboard so I haven't watched them since. The keyboard sounds crisp and clear and works well with headphones. The keys all work nicely and the samples of other instruments sound good as well. The included "learn to play" songs are helpful enough in that the LED screen displays what key is making each note, but it's pretty quick and will take some time to get used to.
So the keyboard is solid, but what about the accessories in this bundle? While my keyboard arrived nice and in one piece, my headphones were already in several pieces. One earphone was entirely broken, but luckily the 3.5mm adapter is still there and that works like a charm. The one speaker that does work for me is fine though, so I suppose that's something.
The stand seems like it wasn't made for the YPT-320, the model I got it with. There are grooves on the bottom of the keyboard to help the stand hold it in place, but this stand is ever so slightly off point with them. It still holds the keyboard well enough though and as long as I don't lift the keyboard or try to move it off the stand, it doesn't move.
The power adapter is fine. I was a little disappointed that it didn't come with the keyboard. Whatever.
